The EMS Cooperative plays a crucial role within this framework. It's a body of the UPU, consisting of over 170 member countries collaborating to provide the high-speed EMS service. The Cooperative's structure includes the General Assembly (comprising all member countries), the EMS Cooperative Board (with nine elected members), and the EMS Unit, which serves as the executive arm and operates from the International Bureau of the UPU. The UPU itself is an inter-governmental organization and a central forum for cooperation among governments, postal services, and other stakeholders in the global postal sector. The EMS tracking number format typically consists of 13 characters, following a specific structure to ensure unique identification for each package. This format generally includes:

Two Capital Letters at the Beginning: The tracking number usually starts with two capital letters. The first letter is often an "E", signifying "Express mail". This is followed by another capital letter.

Nine Numerical Digits: The tracking number includes nine digits after the initial two letters. These digits represent a unique serial number for the package.

Two Capital Letters at the End: The tracking number concludes with two capital letters. These letters usually represent the country code of the origin postal service, such as "NZ" for New Zealand or "CN" for China.

Here are a couple of examples to illustrate the format:

"EX123456789US": In this tracking number, "EX" denotes Express mail from the United States. The sequence "123456789" is the unique identifier for the shipment, and "US" indicates that it originated from the United States.

"EA987654321JP": "EA" signals an express mail item from Japan. The number "987654321" is a distinct identifier for this package, with "JP" signifying Japan as the country of origin.

Each EMS package is assigned a unique tracking number before shipment, enabling it to be tracked throughout its journey. This format and the unique number help in accurately monitoring the movement and status of the package in real time.
